My take on Decorex 2018

My take on Decorex 2018

Decorex is a platform for both up and coming designers showing their latest collections and long-established companies – largely servicing the luxury interiors market. The Decorex 2018 show preview guide picked out 4 key trends: Art Deco. Decadent & playful whilst retaining a minimalist bent, art deco seems to fit the spirit of now. Jewel colours. Colour choices are set to be bold. Brooding emerald & violet hues or rich sumptuous red. Blue. With its versatility and sophisticated edge it is one of the easiest colours to use. Rugs. these take centre stage – not just as a final flourish but as a key part of a room’s design. I saw evidence of all of the above at Decorex this year. Both lighting and rugs seemed to be in abundance. In both cases, definitely not just as functional items but statement pieces in their own right.                 Of the lighting – so many gorgeous examples but three of my favourites at Decorex 2018: The glass pendants from Jonathan Rogers Glass which were simply stunning; Cold Harbour Lights  – tapping into both art deco & jewel colour trends – these feather chandeliers appear to float, and lastly; Tigermoth Lighting whose pendants were both stunning & playful  – I love the warm light they cast.                 This chair from Timerous Beasties actually glowed! A very colourful stand from Judeco – all together a bit much for me but so many beautiful statement pieces that, used individually, could create a pop of colour or statement piece in a...
Decorex International 2015

Decorex International 2015

Decorex International takes place 20th to 23rd September at Syon Park – at the start of the London Design Festival. Here are my top picks and favourite bits from my visit to the show! It looks like warm metallics are here to stay – be it gold, brass or copper. The colour blue also seemed to be in evidence on many of the Decorex exhibition stands – gorgeous deep, royal blues and navy tones.  Blues work really well with a warm metallic tone so it is no surprise to see these themes running in tandem. Check out the paint work on the Little Greene stand! I love the blue tiles from Drummonds with gold hardware.  Elegant blue chairs from AM Classic and MASSIVE chandelier from iDOGI. There was still hints of the “world traveller” trend with lots of Ikat prints, tribal influences and an earthy rustic feel – lots of colour and texture. A Rum Fellow showcase great examples of Artisan Ikats and artisan textile statement pieces – unfortunately I couldn’t get a good piccie of their stand due to the throng of people around it – check out their website! Luxury was everywhere – after all the theme of the show –  including: lots of wallpapers and fabrics with shimmer; sumptious fabrics with rich colours, metallic influences and velvet texture.  Fabrics from Black edition and Villa Nova, upholstered chair from Haddow Group and wallpapers from Tektura and Sandberg Wallpapers. Tektura have a great new range of wallpapers including a collaboration with Timorous Beasties and Rare Finds – unique wallcoverings and tiles handmade with gold and silver leaf, silk, resin and glass beads. Another top spot at Decorex was furniture with metallic accents. These beautiful...
