Honey Interior Design | Expert interior design service for Hythe, Canterbury, Kent

Commercial Interior Design

My role is to design inspirational spaces: supportive & creative school environments; smarter, more productive work places; and welcoming & engaging pub restaurants and accommodation.

A sense of identity should be evident in any commercial premises - be it a school, pub, office or bed & breakfast - and this may be reflective of the corporate brand, business ethos, the community or the history of the building.

Whatever the style of design it will be a functional space. I ensure that all colour schemes meet DDA guidelines, and that all products are fit for purpose in the specific commercial environment.

My design packages include: moodboards & samples; CAD floor plans & elevations; budgetary information; and design specifications for contractors to implement the schemes. The initial meeting to take the design brief is free of charge.

The dated interior of the See Ho was well-overdue for refurbishment. With the brewery stepping in to extend the premises, the whole of the interior needed a new lease of life. Carpets and old furniture, brown walls and dated textured wallpaper were replaced with warm wood floors, neutral tones and a blue & copper colour scheme. The conservatory extension is now a bright and airy space to dine, with the existing pub area offering additional seating as well as bar stools - and showcasing a feature hare wallpaper and a punchy blue feature wall. The copper accents- in lighting and accessories - help to keep the scheme warm. The new management at the See Ho are ready to give all their customers a warm welcome, good food & drink in a friendly and relaxing environment!

With the boys changing rooms refurbished it was time for the girl's changing rooms to get some tlc! The space was dark and uninspiring. There wasn't enough storage and the showers and toilets didn't work well. I was tasked with incorporating the 'school colours' and decided, due to the young age group, to pair this with pink as the client felt the young girls would really love this. Bright, vibrant pink is an energetic colour, it casts a warm glow around the room and combined with some disco balls and backstage mirror lights, as well as blue LED lighting under the seating - makes a fun space for the girls. Added storage for shoes and bags makes it a functional changing room too. Lastly, wall graphics with images of women doing every sport from rugby, to climbing to gymnastics - make it an inspirational space. Rumour has it that every parent has been dragged into the changing rooms by excitable young girls to take a look!  #thisgirlcan

The client asked us to create something different for an extensive, tired, junior school boys WC /changing area with poor natural light and a short floor to ceiling height. Not an easy challenge! We worked with the client to design something that would look great but also be hard-working, hard-wearing & a functional area for the students & staff who use the space. We designed a scheme that incorporated the school colours and specified contract materials to ensure a robust space. We added design features like the motivational phrases from the games master and wrapped the structural columns with artificial grass for a quirky wow factor! Students & staff alike are thrilled with the results.

The brief was to turn the shabby staff rooms above the Flying Horse into guest accommodation. The owners were keen to incorporate the traditional, country setting of the pub and also consider links to the community such as their support of the local cricket team. They didn’t want anything too floral or ‘old-fashioned’. The rooms have been sympathetically restored with neutral walls & wood furniture, accented by fabrics in sage greens & burnished reds – whilst a quirky touch was added to the corridors and downstairs dining room through the use of a Linwood cricket themed wallpaper.

Some happy clients…

@Elena Hill, Assistant Head, St Mildreds P I School

Can I just take this opportunity to thank you for all your hard work, enthusiasm and support with the project! You really captured the children's ideas into the design which is why the room is looking so amazing! It was great to work with you .We have had nothing but a positive experience in working with you!

@Andrew Cowell - Managing Director, JUSTSO Clothing & Merchandise Ltd.

Recently we commissioned Lisa of Honey Interior Design, to help us with the redesign of our product display zones and office layout, as well as offer suggestions on storage and garment display, and all constrained by a conservative budget! Lisa visited out unit, took detailed notes and listened to our requirements and the responded very quickly with some inspiring ideas and a detailed design advisory document, including annotated images. Lisa is a delightful person to deal with, a really "lovely lady" who has clearly demonstrated to us, in this one "exposure" that she "knows her stuff"! We would not hesitate to recommend her services forward to business contacts, friends and family.

We worked with Lisa of Honey Interior Design for the first time last year. It was on a project for an established client of ours that required more than a little bit of imagination to create something different! The space was an extensive, tired, junior school boys wc/changing area with poor natural light and a short floor to ceiling height! Lisa’s design has resulted a light, airy space with some quirky features that the client is very pleased with. We found Lisa very easy to work with, personable and exceedingly client friendly. The result being a project well received all round by staff and students….so much so, that we will be getting Lisa to help on Phase 2 this summer as we tackle the girls wc/changing area. Lisa is a delight to work with and we look forward to the next opportunity to work with her.

@Tom Dixon, The flying horse, Boughton Aluph

I recently needed to refurbish some letting rooms, a restaurant and a function room at The Flying Horse pub in Boughton Aluph. The rooms seemed dull and dreary and I couldn't decide on a colour for a feature wall. Cue Lisa! The rooms sprung into life with window dressings, lighting, bed throws and themed cushions to suit the vibe of the local environment. Lisa's touches of magical class really brought the rooms together.
Thank you Lisa, for the transformation of the pub, I wouldn't have dreamt it would look so good and I wouldn't have known where to start without you!

@Angela Hencher, Bursar & Clerk to Governors at Kent College

We worked with Lisa first time this summer on a difficult project which required a fresh, innovative, practical and child-friendly solution. Lisa delivered on the brief brilliantly and her design really has provided a wow factor to a previously unappealing space.
